Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently for about 5 minutes.
Once the strawberries begin to soften, use a masher to mash the strawberries into smaller pieces.
When the liquid has thickened, remove it from the stovetop. Place the compote into an air-tight glass container. Allow to cool before covering, store in the refrigerator for about 1 week.
